An outer band that turns freely around the inner one. From across a table it reads as a plain stone-set ring, and then it moves, and that is the part people remember. It is a ring you end up turning without deciding to: on the phone, standing in a queue, halfway through a sentence.

The outer band really spins. Not a decorative groove cut into a solid ring. It rotates the whole way round, smoothly, and it cannot come off the inner band.

The stones sit flush. A channel of small square stones is set into the spinning band rather than raised on top of it, so the surface stays even and nothing catches on a sleeve when you turn it.

It gives your hands something to do. That is why a spinner gets worn every day instead of saved for occasions. It keeps busy fingers occupied quietly, and nobody across the room has any idea.
